What started the idea of Memorints?
This is a wonderful age that allows everyone to enjoy the art of photography through the digital revolution, but these changes are affecting the industry us photographers make a living from.
We are seeing a continual decline in the value of photographic equipment as manufacturers continue to challenge each other, releasing newer and better products to dominate the market share. This is positive news for consumers, reducing the costs of advanced equipment for everyone to enjoy. But, on the negative side, we are finding more and more enthusiasts with next to no knowledge, posing as photographers, under-pricing the market to earn a little extra money on the side of their main jobs.
This problem will continue to escalate as photographer’s sources of secondary income via re-prints are diminishing more and more with advances in scanning technology and electronic data transfer, meaning our rates will have to increase to cover our loss in revenue, again, opening the gates to opportunists even wider.
